Lund University Academic Choir

LAK

The Lund University Academic Choir (LAK), with some 50 singers, is the Odeum music department’s largest choir and led by Choral Director Cecilia Martin-Löf. The choir was formed in 1927 as a women’s choir, but later became a mixed choir in order to expand its repertoire. The choir has been part of Odeum since 2007. The singers in the choir are mostly students and doctoral students at the University. The repertoire is varied, but the emphasis is on classical music for a cappella choirs.

The Lund University Academic Choir holds about ten concerts each year, both within Odeum’s event series and in other contexts outside the University. The choir sings regularly at University academic ceremonies such as professorial inaugurations and doctoral degree conferment ceremonies. The choir also regularly goes on tour, lately to locations such as California and South Africa.

As a singer in the Lund University Academic Choir, you are part of a unique community, in a choir of high musical quality, where the social side is also important. Singing in the Lund University Academic Choir is a highpoint of student life in Lund!
